Owsley County Outreach is happy to announce that we are off to a good school year with
food back pack program. Fall is upon us and we are picking up addition kids weekly, as one  of  the kindergarten teacher told us the Food Back Pack are a big help to her kindergarten  children, she feel like the small children who are receiving the food is not going as hungry as  they where before the food program started.
The Director of the Resource Centers out of Frankfort told us we are one of the best resources  Owsley County has in helping keep kids in school and learning.

A grandmother came in to the thrift store, a month earlier her daughter had dropped off 6 children, and left them, has not returned gone on into the drug world, she had not food i the house, except for a few can of soup, the kids where in school and getting breakfast and lunch, she was eating what they did not at dinner and that all she had had for 3 days, we gave her a food bow and ideal on ways to make a meal go father, had her call the Resource center and ask for them to be placed on the food back pack program, they where adding praise the Lord, we could afford 6 more children.

Attendance rate has increased.

Drop out rate has decreased

Behavior has improved.

Reading and math scores have increased.

No child should be left behind because of hungry.

Cleda,

You may not remember me.  Two years ago, a few of us brought a U-Haul full of food, clothes, and other items to you.  Me and my family attend St. Therese in Southgate, KY, with your nephew (I think), Vince.  Anyway, I am trying to arrange it so we can gather up some more items for you, with a delivery to you towards the end of November.  I hope this is okay with you.

Please let me know of a telephone contact for you so we can make the arrangements.

 Thanks much,

Rick Froendhoff

Hi Cleda, I was wondering if would be possible If we could a little help to unload, we maybe a

little shorthanded on are end. I trying to find a few big boys to help, but being the holiday

season it is proving to be more challenging than I first thought. Any help you can give us

would be great. We have a 26 foot uhaul truck and maybe a trailer we have about six people

as of right now. We have a lot of trash bags full of clothing (150-200), Toys,

and about 40 to 60 box of food. I still working on trying to get some baking goods, I will

know more on Monday. We also have a baby crib and changing table a stroller playpen, high

chair, A electric range, a dresser, kitchen chairs, lamps, a rocker and small end table this just

to name a few things. I don’t know if we can bring every thing but we will try. We are still looking

at a 9-10 time frame. It’s all good and Our Good Lord open up a lot of hearts as you can see.

I will keep you up to date, Thanks for all you do Cleda.

See you soon Rick.
